Welsh First Minister Mark Drakesford announced earlier today that all of Wales will enter a ‘time limited firebreak’ lockdown, with effect from 6.00pm on Friday 23 October for a period of 17 days, ending on Monday 9 November.

With a summer of limited exposure to international competition, many leading Brits flocked to Keysoe CDI in Bedfordshire (9 - 11 October 2020) to present their top and up-and-coming horses. Although behind closed doors, the entire competition was live streamed by Horse & Country for connections and enthusiasts to view from the comfort of home.

The youth riders did themselves proud and the results were close at the top. As well as concentrating on their own performances, they were able to watch a number of Olympians and British team members produce some beautiful tests which were sheer inspiration.

After an enforced pause in international competition due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Great Britain’s para riders were out en masse at Keysoe CPEDI3*/2*/1* last week (5 – 8 October 2020) alongside riders representing Hong Kong, Canada, Ireland and the US Virgin Islands. British riders dominated with Sophie Christiansen, Natasha Baker and Sophie Wells each scoring an emphatic hat-trick of wins.

This year’s British Dressage Young Pony Championships 2020 saw some incredibly talented ponies take to the arena at Keysoe over the weekend. Four-year-olds, five-year-olds, and six-year-old ponies took part in a competitive yet safe competition environment under the relevant protocols provided.

The Prime Minister yesterday announced that a new three tier system would be put in place to manage local lockdowns, in response to the increase in positive coronavirus cases in parts of England. Following this announcement, we want to update members as to how this will affect dressage activity across the country.

2020 has been tough for us all. We’ve faced a number of challenges and we’ve missed out on so many of our favourite dressage events. So, it’s with a great sense of excitement, British Dressage can unveil plans for a Christmas celebration which we hope will end this difficult year on a high note for us all.
