Vicky Thompson-Winfield’s Olympic partner Enfant has been put to sleep, following a long and happy retirement, at the great age of 34. Trained and mentored by the late great Franz ‘Rocky’ Rochowansky, a former Chief Rider at the Spanish Riding School of Vienna, Vicky and Enfant represented Great Britain at the Atlanta Olympic Games in 1996.  

British Dressage's toolkits for competitors, organisers and venues, judges and coaches have been updated to reflect the current government guidelines.

With competition successfully, and safely, resumed across much of the country, positive progress continues to be made on all fronts for the resumption of the season, here’s the latest news on our Sports Operations developments.

The riders who have been granted permission to compete and represent Great Britain as individuals at the FEI European Youth Championships 2020, 9 – 30 August, in Budapest, Hungary has been announced. 

British Dressage is delighted to announce that riders, horses, owners and connections will not miss their opportunity to compete at Hartpury and the revised NAF Five Star Winter Championships and Petplan Equine Area Festival Championships are now set to run from 17 to 23 August 2020.

It is with sadness that British Dressage has learned of the passing of Tim Price, former show director at Addington Manor. Tim passed away on 12 July at the age of 66 following a short illness.

Good results were achieved by the young Brits who travelled to Grote-Brogel CDI in Belgium last week (9 – 12 July 2020). Hosted by the Breugelhoeve equestrian centre, the Grote-Brogel CDI was the fourth CDI since the resumption of the international competition calendar and the first attended by British riders.

The First Ministers for Scotland and Wales have announced new lockdown measures in the past 36 hours which will allow further equestrian activity to resume in the devolved nations. Meanwhile, the Chancellor of the Exchequer has unveiled plans to help the UK recover financially from the pandemic.

British Dressage (BD) members in England have been out competing for ten days now as dressage shows have been able to get back underway under COVID-19 safe conditions – and today’s announcement by Wales First Minister Mark Drakeford means that our welsh members can also resume outdoor competition activity.

British Dressage is delighted to announce that the FEI has promoted British FEI judge Peter Storr to 5* Judging status as of 1 January 2021.
