Considering a membership with us but not sure where to start? Keep reading for all of the information you need on the benefits of being a member, the competitions we have available and the membership options we have available.
Membership options
We have six membership plans available, so no matter where you are on your dressage journey, there's a place for you with us:
- Club membership: perfect for those new to competing in dressage or riding at the lower levels.
- Full (competing) membership: the complete membership package - for anyone who wants access to all BD competitions.
- Full (non-competing) membership: if you're not currently competing, but are interested in being involved in dressage through judging, writing or stewarding then this is the membership for you.
- Trial membership: a 3 month membership for anyone who has not been a member before, with all of the benefits of a Full (competing) membership.
- Winter membership: runs from 1 October - 31 March, giving 6 month access to all BD competitions and benefits. Perfect for eventers or Riding Club members.
- Quest Winter League: for Quest Winter League competitions only, running from 1 September - 31 December.
Competition series
Competing with us gives you so many different opportunities to try different types of competitions - we have something for all levels, from complete beginners up to experienced riders:
Quest
The perfect intro to BD! Compete on your own or as part of a team in our fun and friendly Quest competitions. You can compete at Introductory, Preliminary or Novice level. Earn points at BD Quest Shows for your place on the Quest leaderboards and the chance to qualify for a semi-final.
Petplan Area Festivals
Aimed at grassroots riders at all levels from Preliminary to Inter I, the Petplan Area Festivals welcome everyone from new members to regular BD competitors. With two seasons, you can compete in the Area Festival series all year round - gain qualification scores to reach a Petplan Area Festival at regular BD shows, with the chance to then reach the Petplan Area Festival Championships.
Associated Championships
All horses are welcome at the Associated Championships! From Arab horses to British Native Ponies and Traditional Gypsy Cobs, these Championships celebrate all of the wonderful breeds out there. With a range of levels available, from Intro to Prix St Georges (levels vary per Championship), this is a great competition for all members. Qualification scores can be gained at regular BD shows or BD Quest competitions.
Red Gorilla® Combined Training
The chance to combine both dressage and showjumping! Classes run from Intro to Elementary, with the relevant show jumping height attached to each class. Qualifier competitions run from January to March, compete in one of these for your chance to reach the Combined Training Championships in May.
Regional Championships
For our more experienced riders, the Regional Championships offer you the chance to compete for a space at one of BD's major Championships. From Prelim Silver up to Inter I Gold, earn your qualification scores at regular BD shows to reach a Summer or Winter Regional Championship. From there you can qualify for the NAF Five Star Winter Dressage Championships or the LeMieux National Dressage Championships.
Para Championships
Para dressage classes mirror the non disabled structure and is split into three sections – bronze, silver and gold. Earn points from affiliated para classes all year round to qualify for numerous championships! There are a number of Championships to aim for each year, with opportunities for all levels of riders.
