Competitors from across the Midlands and further afield travelled to Leicestershire's Vale View for the first High Profile show of the 2026 season, where summer qualification and FEI test practice were the orders of the day.

Angus Corrie-Deane delivered a Grand Prix double with his long-term ride Jack Johnson to open the 2026 season in style. In Saturday’s Grand Prix, Angus rode to 70.650% in front of Mark Ruddock, Pamela Bushell and Jane Critchley, placing ahead of Fiona Bigwood and Donna Bella on 70.620%. Whilst on Sunday, a super score of 72.200% in the Grand Prix Freestyle secured the combination’s brace of victories to consolidate on winter training with some top competition form.

Speaking on social media Angus said he ‘couldn’t be more proud’ of both of his horses – with rising talent Maigret VD Watermolen (Daily Diamond x Johnson) also picking up an Advanced Medium test win on 70.070%. “He’s feeling so happy and confident in his work at the moment and it’s so exciting to feel it paying off,” Angus reflected on Jack Johnson’s performance, “Overall an incredible weekend, heads down again this week ahead of regionals.”

Dannie Morgan completed a week to remember at Vale View, progressing from Regional success at Onley Grounds to secure two Small Tour class wins with Fever Tree. The impressive Foundation-sired gelding has been one of Britain’s hottest prospects, with multiple National title wins and an appearance at the World Breeding Championships; to start 2026, ‘Gordon’ delivered two solid performances at the next level up, winning Saturday’s Prix St Georges with 76.370% and Sunday’s Intermediate I with 75.150%.

With her own Fergus RT (Uphill x Ferro), Claudia Davis also rode to Small Tour success, securing two Intermediate I Gold wins with consistent scores of 69.270% and 69.410%. A very proud Claudia took to Facebook to celebrate her achievements, praising her long-term dancing partner: “This is our 6th year together, he is still as much my dream horse as he was when I was 16. My heart horse, there will never be another like you Fergus, my biggest bestest boy.”

Nicola Turner and J’Eton Hit LDS were winners at this show in 2025 and returned to Vale View to enjoy more success, earning one of this highest Silver scores of the show with 68.330% in Saturday’s Intermediate I class.

Mette Dahl and Daytona Platinum look a combination to watch after a fantastic performance at their first High Profile of the year. They opened their account with 74.610% in Friday’s Prix St Georges to top the podium ahead of Tom Goode and Noora Bint Hamad Al Khalifa’s Diamond Hit-sired Deinrich on 71.720% and Sarah Millis with Isla Sully’s mare Odessa de Massa on 70.340%. Next up for the combination was the Young Rider Team test against their age group peers, where they secured the win with 70.880%.

Elsewhere in the Under 21 ranks, Myles Graham won the Young Rider Individual on a score of 71.320% with new ride Fred Astaire WD, owned by Lindsay Roberts; the duo also placed second in the Team competition behind Mette. The Junior classes were split between Team test winner Isla Sully, scoring 70.400% with her team medallist Vagabond de Massa, and Individual class winner Jessie Clark with the 18-year-old mare MSJ Doornoos II who earned 68.870%. Ella Fraser made the Pony classes her own with Brouwershaven’s Viceroy; riding to Team success with 70.520% before topping the Individual class on a super 71.530%. Whilst in the Children on Horses classes, Sophie Mansell also made her mark with two plus 70% wins on board the Dutch-bred mare Dian Eleen.

Grade V Para rider Alice Begg enjoyed some top results and great experience with her rides across the show. With Kiolita, Alice took an Advanced Medium Silver class win on Saturday before going on to earn two super scores of 71.670% and 71.380% in Sunday’s Grand Prix A and B tests. Alice also presented her six-year-old KWPN Patterson for Grade V Inter A Silver success with 67.230%, whilst Noraly (Secret x Everdale) won Saturday’s Medium Silver class with 68.330%.
