Addington Equestrian’s Premier League fixture (12–14 May 2025) delivered superb performances across the levels, with riders contending for top placings and LeMieux National Championships qualification at the Buckinghamshire venue.

Sheffield’s Becky Moody enjoyed yet another successful outing, taking the LeMieux Grand Prix victory on Monday with a score of 70.942%, aboard her own and Jo Cooper’s 11-year-old stallion James Bond II (Desperado NOP x Fidertanz). Kimberley Siddorn with Samantha Dyer’s Dutch Class followed closely in second on 69.493%, whilst Fiona Bigwood expertly piloted her home-bred Donna Bella to third place, earning 68.297% for the mare’s debut at Grand Prix level.

The LeMieux Grand Prix Freestyle win went to Darren Hicks with his own Tramontana Tiger Feet (Grey Flanell x Hotline), their performance set to dramatic music was rewarded a score of 76.283% from Mary Robins (E), Fiona Wilson (C) and Alison Duck (M). The Gloucestershire-based rider also finished second in Monday’s Advanced Medium with Quintino and posted a personal best on board Kinnear to take second in Tuesday’s Prix St Georges.

“All three horses were absolutely super,” said Darren, “Quintino was making his debut at the level and really delivered, and Kinnear gave us a personal best. Tiger Feet was just fantastic. It feels like everything is coming together with him now and he’s so much more confident in the ring. The show itself was brilliant too; the arena had a great atmosphere and was a really positive experience.”

Becky Moody was again in winning form at Prix St Georges level, claiming Monday’s Fairfax Saddles class with her eight-year-old Governor-sired mare Magic Dream on 72.451%. The pair returned for the Intermediate I, where they posted 70.245% for second behind Rebecca Jane Edwards and Laerke Stensvang, who took the win with 72.304%. Gareth Hughes with his own and Georgina Wilkinson’s Mowgli Olympia - MC also consistently placed, finishing second in Monday’s Prix St Georges on 71.127%, before taking the win in Tuesday’s class with a score of 72.892%.

Sara-Jane Lanning and Hawtins Lirica (pictured) brought their elegant Intermediate I Freestyle to the arena, topping the leaderboard on 76.217% before going on to win Wednesday’s Saracen Horse Feeds Intermediate I on 70.980%.

“I was absolutely thrilled. The Inter I felt like the best test we’ve done at a Premier League, and although it was a long wait watching the scores come in, it was such a strong class with amazing horses,” said Sara-Jane. “The Freestyle was a real highlight for me, as it all just came together. I let the horse down slightly on the first day by going wrong, so it was very satisfying to come back and have two wins.”

As the road to Somerford continues, the in-form Dannie Morgan and his seven-year-old gelding Fever Tree delivered a commanding win in Wednesday’s Advanced Medium 6 with a score of 74.676%, to book their ticket to the LeMieux Nationals ahead of Tom Goode and SCS L'Amour on 71.713%.

Greater Manchester’s Lillian Waller McSweeney opened Tuesday’s youth action with a win in the Individual Test on 75.130% aboard Jacqueline Waller’s Sir Donnerhall-sired gelding Willingapark Sky Diamond, before Oriana McNamara and Andrea McNamara’s nine-year-old Bordeaux-sired gelding Lafite topped Wednesday’s Team Test with an outstanding 76.025%.

Demi Howard-Cartwright and Elite Dressage’s Apache-sired gelding Newton Astro Nascente posted back-to-back Junior wins with two scores of over 70%, whilst Queenie Moule also enjoyed a double win, taking the top spot in both the Pony Individual and Team tests with Amden Supreme Golden Dancer (Dating AT x Scampi). The Young Rider Individual test went to Morgan Haerr, whilst the Team test went to India Durman-Mills.

In the young horse divisions, Fiona Bigwood once again earned top honours in the KBIS Six-Year-Old qualifer with her own Toerveslettens Sylvester-sired gelding Newton Sylvanite on 85.800%. Following the victory, Fiona took to social media: “Newton Sylvanite was a star… He is such a talented horse to work with. I am enjoying riding these young horse classes, even at my age!!” Fiona’s success also included winning the BD International Six-Year-Old class with Sylvanite on 86.800%, as well as taking the BD International Seven-Year-Old title with Quinn G on 85.832%.

In the Five-Year-Old classes, Sarah Rogers showed her strength with Thomas Ticino, winning both the KBIS qualifier and BD International on 86.600% and 83.400%, whilst Tom Goode claimed first and third in the KBIS Four-Year-Old class with Ravenna II and Razzila, two talented mares owned by Debbie Cunningham.

The KBIS Young Pony classes were a family affair with several ponies bred by Maxted Massey Stud taking the top spots. Hertfordshire-based rider Michelle Wakefield was dominant in the Four-Year-Old section with Naomi Maxted-Massey’s MM Sweet Uno Star and MM Sweet Gucci finishing first and second. Meanwhile, MM Sweet Gucci’s older sister MM Sweet Sensation, owned by Kelley Mewes and ridden by Shelly Reeve-Smith, took top honours in the Five-Year-Old class with 74.400%.

Congratulations to all competitors, owners and supporters, and thank you to the team at Addington Equestrian, judges, stewards and volunteers for delivering a successful Premier League event.
