In accordance with the British Dressage Articles of Association, we can confirm that three positions on the Board are due for election this year: Chair, International Director, and Judges Director (to be renamed Officials Director).
In accordance with the announcement made at the AGM in 2024, upon vacating the role the title of Judges Director will be changed to Officials Director, and they will chair the Officials Committee, to oversee all matters relating to judges and stewards. Providing they meet the requisite criteria, the International Director will also sit on the Senior Selection Panel, as well as chair the U21 International Committee.
The role of Chair is open to nominations from anyone who meets the criteria and suitably qualified candidates from outside of the sport are welcome to apply. This is now an appointed position, as recommended by the Nominations Committee and approved by the Board, subject to member ratification via the electronic ballot. The current Chair, Jill Day, is also eligible to stand for a second term.
This notice is being posted as required under articles 18.8 and 18.9, to invite those wishing to stand for election to formally submit their nominations. Nomination forms are available on the British Dressage website, or on request from the BD office, and the closing date for all applications is midday on Tuesday 5 May 2026.
All applicants will then be reviewed by the Nominations Committee, in accordance with Article 23.3, with a shortlist invited to interview. The successful candidate(s) will then be put forward for election by members in the summer. An electronic ballot will be held over six weeks, from mid-July to late August 2026, with all BD members able to cast their votes online.
The result will be formally announced at the 2026 British Dressage Annual General Meeting in October (date and venue to be confirmed). Please note that the membership vote is binding and not subject to formal ratification at the AGM. However, the positions will continue to take effect from the date of the AGM.
Applications
All applicants will need to have the specific technical knowledge, experience and competencies required to be a Board Director, which are detailed within the role descriptions for each position.
Candidates will need to provide a full curriculum vitae, together with a supporting statement detailing how they meet the role requirements, as well as complete a declaration of interest form, by midday on Tuesday 5 May 2026.
Details of the nominees, including any candidates nominated by the Board of British Dressage under Article 18.7.2, will appear on the BD website.
