BD Presents 25: Meet Dan Greenwood

As we prepare for our first BD Presents Regional Roadshow event, taking place at Hurstbourne Equestrian on 1 November, get to know more about top host Dan Greenwood.
Cotswold-based rider and trainer Dan Greenwood is set to headline BD Presents... South on Saturday 1 November at Hurstbourne Equestrian in Hampshire, alongside Michael Eilberg.
Dan’s masterclass will take you on a journey through the principles of horsemanship and provide a chance to learn from his vast expertise as an international rider and coach. Dan has developed a training structure that provides great results for horses and riders. “I can name dozens of horses and people who now have successful careers in dressage who started with us,” he explained, “not because I’m amazing but because we have a consistent logical approach to training.”
Speaking about his hopes for the event, Dan continued: “I hope to engage with fellow riders, coaches and judges and discuss the importance of keeping good principles of horsemanship and training with the horses needs front and centre of what we do in dressage”.
Dan has a wealth of experience under his belt from competing internationally, and has produced a wealth of horses to Grand Prix – taking them through the levels with empathy and good education. As a trainer, he’s supported those on the journey to success, from youth and para riders, to those represent their country in international eventing, dressage and to Olympic level. Dan is currently the Podium Potential Pathway Para Dressage Coach for British Equestrian and balances this alongside his busy life running a successful yard in the heart of the Cotswolds.
Dan is passionate about developing riders and horses and offers a sympathetic approach towards his students, something that he’ll embody at BD Presents... South. Dan revealed it’s “the training journey and getting to know each horse’s character and personality is what makes me tick”. Talking more about what to expect from his coaching, Dan said that he likes to use a “what, why and how” approach.
With a special talent for developing horses and people, Dan is a real asset to the sport and sets a great example of what it takes to be a successful in his field.
