British Dressage is pleased to partner with Coleg Cambria to offer new education opportunities to young equestrians, with the delivery of the BD Apprenticeship now available to those aged 16 and over living and working in Wales.
The British Dressage Apprenticeship programme provides a range of nationally recognised qualifications within a practical, vocational setting. The BD opportunity has previously been available in England and Scotland through partnerships with Sport Structures and the Scottish Racing Academy, and is now expanding to Wales for those aged 16 and over, with Coleg Cambria offering exceptional support to learners.
Coleg Cambria offer work-based learning qualifications from a Foundation Level 2 to a Level 4 Apprenticeship. The three courses available are:
- Level 2 Equine, Horse Care, Riding & Coaching
- Level 3 Equine, Horse Care, Riding, Breeding & Coaching
- Level 4 Senior Care, Riding & Management
Apprentices will be guided and assessed with each route being tailored to their interests depending on the credits and subjects chosen. This partnership opens tailored opportunities to those eager to gain the knowledge necessary to support them on their chosen career path.
With expert guidance and support from Coleg Cambria, every apprentice will follow a learning journey tailored to their individual goals. Alongside this, their British Dressage approved place of employment will support them in developing a strong and varied portfolio of skills whilst earning a qualification and gaining valuable hands-on experience in the equestrian workplace.
Charlotte Osborne, British Dressage Head of Development, commented: “I’m thrilled to welcome Coleg Cambria as a partner for the British Dressage Apprenticeship programme. We’re committed to providing an inclusive, accessible route into equestrian sport – unlocking these opportunities in Wales is the next step to achieving this goal. Our team is very much looking forward to working with Coleg Cambria to welcome new learners to the programme and support them throughout their journey.”
Katy Davies, Coleg Cambria work-based practitioner said: “We are looking forward to support those residing in Wales along their path in the equestrian industry. Partnering with British Dressage is an exciting move and we hope that this will help promote networking and opportunities for those seeking a career in the dressage industry. We hope that this collaboration will encourage our developing workforce and promote continuous learning whilst gaining valuable hands-on industry experience."
