British Dressage is pleased to announce Lanxess Biosecurity Solutions as its Official Biosecurity Partner, as part of a three-year deal that will see the German global chemistry business support development and education in equine welfare.
Global chemistry business Lanxess are innovators in the field of biosecurity, operating in both Germany and the UK to create products designed to protect animals, prevent diseases and infections, and reduce the spread of viruses and bacterial infections. Their globally renowned product Virkon S is well-known and well-used by equestrians in all disciplines.
Virkon S has been protecting animals for over 40 years, quickly inactivating pathogens and diseases, with no known resistance build up. Vitally, Virkon S leaves no residual product and breaks down into harmless salts already found in the environment, without increasing the burden on our environment. Combined with an effective cleaner, this product is ideal for horse stables, horse yards, tool and equipment disinfection, foot dips and wheel disinfection of trailers at events, where disease pressure increases due to the number of animals and visitors.
This exciting new partnership between Lanxess and British Dressage will provide members with first-class education on disease prevention and its connection to horse health and well-being, helping to ensure their horses are receiving the best care when it comes to biosecurity. Exclusive discounts and offers on Lanxess products will also be available to BD members throughout the duration of this collaboration.
As part of the partnership, British Dressage will work with the Lanxess experts to bring informative content to all members, including webinars, Q&A sessions and features across BD’s print and digital output. These activities will provide practical advice and guidance on how effective biosecurity solutions can prevent disease and improve health, as well as improve overall knowledge and understanding of equestrian viruses and other pathogens.
Jason Brautigam, BD Chief Executive, commented: “With horse health at the forefront of BD activity, we’re pleased to partner with an established and respected brand to improve member education and awareness of biosecurity. This partnership aligns with our strategies in both horse welfare and sustainability, as we aim to understand more about the effects that a changing environment can have on bringing disease risks to our horses. We look forward to welcoming Lanxess to our team of valued partners, who collectively share the aim of enhancing the member experience, whilst improving the well-being of our horses at all levels of the sport.”
Wayne Olbison, LANXESS Sales Manager UK / Ireland, commented: “We are delighted to partner with British Dressage to promote and educate on horse welfare and disease prevention, helping all those passionate about dressage to continue to enjoy the sport whilst ensuring their horses are receiving the best disease prevention advice and care. We look forward to supporting BD members and the wider equine community in the field of biosecurity, with the ultimate shared aim of keeping our animals safe, taking all biosecurity precautions to help us keep disease free.”
