This UK Coaching Week, 2 – 8 June, we’re celebrating the power of great coaching guidance by encouraging coaches, organisations, the public and BD members to #PassItOn!
Coaches shape lives. A single piece of coaching guidance can have a lasting impact and change a life. It can build confidence, ignite passion, unlock potential and so much more – in both sport and physical activity and in life. Everyone has a coach who inspired them, and UK Coaching Week is a time to celebrate and share those stories.
This UK Coaching Week, UK Coaching is celebrating the transformative power of coaching with the theme #PassItOn, encouraging coaches, organisations, and the public to share the wisdom and experiences that has changed lives.
Running from 2 to 8 June, the awareness week shines a light on the unique impact coaches have on individuals, teams, and communities across the UK.
Coaches play a pivotal role in shaping lives, not just through sport and physical activity, but by providing life-changing support and guidance that builds confidence, resilience, and strength. This year, UK Coaching is inviting participants, athletes, coaches, and anyone who has been positively influenced by coaching to reflect on and share the experience that has made the greatest impact on their journey. Whether it’s a piece of guidance that boosted confidence, a word of encouragement that ignited passion, or a lesson that shaped a career, coaching is about more than performance, it’s about people.
Throughout UK Coaching Week, we're encouraging everyone to share their stories of great coaching that has left a lasting impact, embracing the theme #PassItOn.
Each day of the week will spotlight a different aspect of coaching, highlighting the diversity and depth of the role coaches play, we’ll be sharing UK Coaching content throughout the week to shine a light on topics such as building confidence, inspiring change, women in coaching and the art of effective communication.
Reflecting on the significance of coaching, UK Coaching CEO, Mark Gannon, said: “Coaches shape not only athletes and participants but entire communities. This UK Coaching Week, we want to celebrate the support and guidance that coaches pass on every day. By sharing these stories, we inspire others to #PassItOn and continue the cycle of growth and learning. Recognising the extraordinary work coaches do in developing not only athletic skills but life skills is crucial. Let’s come together to inspire the next generation of coaches.”
At British Dressage, we’re committed to both supporting those who wish to take the step onto the coaching journey, as well as helping our members access the very best coaching support.
Speaking about the importance of the role, BD Head of Development, Charlotte Osborne, commented: “Coaching is the cornerstone of equestrian development at every level — from grass roots to elite. For riders of all ages, great coaching not only builds skill and confidence, but also nurtures a deeper understanding of horse welfare, safety and partnership. It’s an essential part of the lifelong learning journey in dressage, shaping not just better riders, but more thoughtful and capable individuals. We're proud to celebrate our coaches and great coaching this week, and hope that the network of BD qualified coaches, and the associated learning opportunities, will continue to grow and thrive.”
