Competitors from across the country flocked to Aintree Equestrian for their popular High Profile fixture (15 – 19 October), where winter qualification scores and a place in the limelight at the iconic racing venue were up for grabs.

Worcestershire’s Michael Eilberg just can’t keep away from the top step of the podium this season, and his good run of form continued at Aintree where he topped five classes at Prix St Georges, Intermediate I and Intermediate II level, placing inside the top two for all tests ridden with his three horses. Michael repeated the exact same number of class wins as this show as he achieved in 2024.

With Amanda Wu’s Jacky Kennedy DVB (Damsey x Jazz), Michael rode to two Prix St Georges wins with scores of 74.66% and 72.30%. On board the 12-year-old Iggy Pop (pictured), another top prospect owned by Amanda, Michael produced a winning Inter I performance with 71.91% on the second day of competition before going on to top the Inter II Gold class with 71.13%. Finally, the Eilberg family’s EDH Nanouk (Negro x Dimaggio) earned his moment in the spotlight with a win in Friday’s Inter I Gold, on a super score of 72.30%.

“What a show!” Michael reflected on social media, “Not one test below 70%. Very grateful when things all come together for shows like these, makes all the hard work worth it, not just from myself but my whole team and sponsors who contribute and make it all possible. Thank you! Aintree make such an effort to put on a great show, if you’re looking for an end of year outing I highly recommend it.”

Cheshire-based Mat Burnett also collected a handful of wins at the show, with the seven-year-old Zoom-sired gelding notching up three wins at Elementary level, all with stellar scores over 70%. Delighted with the chestnut’s performances, Matt commented: “Weazel was a legend at his first big competition at Aintree High Profile, winning all three of his Elementary tests with +70% scores and placing third and fourth in only his second and third ever Medium level tests. I feel very lucky to be able to take such a lovely, well-behaved horse out to compete – so big thanks to his co-owners Lisa, Sue and Lucy.”

Fresh from success at the Petplan Summer Area Festival Championships, Amber Flynn also impressed at Aintree with Jennifer Whittaker’s Fortuna BG. On day one, the Silver combination earned a win in the Equi-Trek Elementary 5 with 72.975%, as well as a second place in the Elementary 4 class; the pair then returned on Friday to claim both Elementary classes with 69.38% and 68.50%.

It was success all-round for the White Hill Stud team, as, in addition to Manager Amber Flynn, Jess Dunn also travelled home to the Lancashire stable with multiple wins. With the home-bred WHS Funtime Frankie, Jess rode to two Medium Gold wins; whilst nine-year-old Lord Lenny collected an Advanced Medium Gold class win with 69.30%.

Aintree High Profile showcases Grand Prix competition with a glittering gala evening, supported by title sponsors Hird & Partners, and a weekend of top sport. In Sunday’s Grand Prix Gold Sarah Higgins and Samuel IV topped the results sheet with a super solid 69.49%. Whilst Angus Corrie Deane secured the top spot in the Grand Prix Freestyle, riding his own Jack Johnson to a win with 74.67%.

In the Youth classes, there were plenty of new combinations and future stars taking to the arena to earn experience ahead of winter training. Four combinations earned double wins over the weekend - Pony duo Georgie Morgan and Brouwershaven’s Jasper, Junior pair Jessie Clarke and MSJ Doornroos II and Young Rider Mia Smith with Dutch Discovery, as well as Flo Hall-Smith and Chloe Dawes’ Femma Lijbra at Children on Horses level.

Congratulations to all class winners and those who took part across the week. Thanks go to the team at Aintree International Equestrian Centre for hosting a super BD High Profile Show with top quality facilities and organisation, as well as extending thanks to those who supported the show through generous sponsorship.
