Hartpury's NAF Festival of Dressage set sail with three days of CPEDI competition (1 - 3 July 2025), providing a sunny stage for Britain's stars and rising talents to show their best amongst strong competition.

Nicola Naylor (pictured above) was one of two British riders to earn a hat-trick of victories at Hartpury's CPEDI fixture. With her own and Rosalind Emery Kay's Humberto L (Cachet L x Haarlem), the Kent-based Grade 4 rode to a convincing trio of wins, scoring 73.889% in the Grand Prix A, 75.811% in the Grand Prix B, before earning an impressive 78.560% for their final appearance in the Freestyle competition. Nicola also earned top three placings with her second ride, Moulin Rouge, who looks a bright prospect for the future at only eight-years-old.

"Wow, what a few days at Hartpury CPEDI3*," Nicola announced on social media, "I am so, so proud of both horses this week. Humberto was on top form for the Grade IV hat-trick. Starting with a 73.889% win in the Grand Prix A, we then achieved a PB of 75.811% in the Grand Prix B followed by another PB of 78.560% to take the Freestyle win. He just gets better and better. Once again Moulin Rouge (Satine) gave me the most incredible feeling, placing third on day one followed by 72.054% for second to Humberto in the Grand Prix B. At only eight-years-old this is just the beginning for this very special young horse. She has well deserved her nomination for the Europeans having delivered plus-70% international scores (bar one) in her first show season."

Sophie Wells also earned a triad of wins, presenting her Paris medallist LJT Egebjerggards Samoa in the 3* Grade 5 contest. The combination opened their account with 69.410% in the Grand Prix A before going on to earn 71.684% in the Grand Prix B; their top score came in the Freestyle, where they were rewarded 76.470% by Yukako Kimura (E - JPN), Sarah Leitch (H - GBR), Marc Urban (C - BEL), Pia Pedersen (M - DEN) and Marjukka Manninen (B - FIN).

In the Grade 1 competition, Paris 2024 Freestyle Bronze medallist Mari Durward-Akhurst claimed the opening Grand Prix A test with a fantastic 75.417% earned on board Diane Redfern, Nick Durward-Akhurst and Rob Waine's Athene Lindebjerg (Gribaldi x Diamant). In the Grand Prix B and Freestyle competitions, it was Gabriella Blake (pictured below) and Strong Beau to take the top spot, earning 74.875% and a whopping 78.940%, the highest score of the show.

Team regulars Georgia Wilson and Lee Pearson split the Grade 2 classes between them. With Jenson Guest, David and Lynda Pearson and his own 14-year-old Breezer, Lee took the top spot in the Grand Prix A competition and the Freestyle, earning a top combination mark of 77.847%; whilst Georgia made the Grand Prix B her own, scoring 73.567% with her own, Geoff and Julie Wilson's gelding Faside Got The Love (Grey Flanell x San Amour) who looked a picture in the Hartpury Arena.

Former British team horse Keystone Dawn Chorus was top of the charts in the Grade 3 classes, with her new rider Katie Reilly (IRL) doing a super job in piloting her new partner to three standout scores.

Congratulations to all riders taking part, their grooms, owners and support teams, as well as their fantastic equine partners. Thanks to the team at Hartpury for hosting top-drawer para competition on home turf, at the start of a busy week of dressage across all levels.
