The Red Gorilla Combined Training Championships are back for 2026, with qualification getting under way this weekend at Radfords Equestrian in Powys on Sunday 11 January.
This winter, shake up your routine and give both you and your horse a boost with Combined Training! Combining the precision of dressage with the power of jumping, it’s the perfect way to keep your horse mentally content and physically fit during the colder months. For riders, it’s a fun and rewarding challenge to master new skills, test your versatility and enjoy a fresh experience in the saddle. With variety at the heart of the sport, Combined Training with Red Gorilla promises fitness, fun and a chance to try something exciting this season.
With qualifiers running from January until March at 17 venues across the country, there's plenty of opportunity to get involved. You only need a British Dressage Community membership and horse registration to compete, making it the perfect opportunity to have a shot at championship qualification during the winter season.
Dressage begins at Introductory level and progresses to Elementary; whilst the jumping heights start at 60cm and continues with 70cm, 80cm and 90cm options.

2025 Champion Mandy Keen spoke about the benefits the series brought to her and her multi-talented chestnut Jackpot after her class win last year: "I think the jumping has really helped develop his strength and he really enjoys it. He was quite scary when I started jumping him as he gave them so much room, but now he gives me confidence – and I’m not a jumping person!"
Kirstin McMurray was also a champion in 2025, taking the Intro and 60cm title with her Highland pony Trailtrow Tianavaig. Speaking about her experience, she said: "Having never competed in Combined Training before, I didn’t know what to expect but I loved how friendly the other competitors were and it was lovely to meet new people and hear their experiences. The whole event just felt really special."
To all riders aiming for series success, the British Dressage team wishes you luck and plenty of fun.
