This June, we’re anticipating that 1 million people will come together for the Great Big Green Week, the UK’s biggest celebration of community-led action for climate and nature. Events and local Green Weeks up and down the country will show that people are working together, making swaps every day to help create a better tomorrow - and now we urgently need politicians to step up and play their part.
We are organising BD’s Great Big Green Week this week and we’d love for you to be a part of it! Follow our activity on social media and the BD website throughout the week, and get involved by sharing with your online communities and contacts, to help us spread the messaging far and wide.
Our events begin with activity in the regions, where we’ll be hosting a Kit Swap from 9am to 12pm on Saturday 7 June, at the Senior Inter Regionals taking place at Bury Farm in Buckinghamshire. Whether you’re taking part or competing, we’re encouraging out members to bring along any horse or or human kit that you no longer need and take something away with you that you do need! Anything left over at the end will be donated to an equestrian charity or to one of our Urban Equestrian Programme centres.
Throughout the week you can view some important updates from some of our sponsors, who are working hard to support sustainability efforts with their products, services and packaging. We’ll also be sharing a series of ‘small swaps’, which are tiny changes you can make at home, to make a big difference.
We recognise that protection of the environment is an integral part of our business and a prime responsibility for everyone in our sport, at every level. As such, sustainability is not only a cornerstone of our future strategy, but it is also embedded in the decision making for everything we do as an organisation. We hope that all of members get behind the Great Big Green Week, and support our extra-environmentally friendly efforts.
