Placing for Pape at prestigious Hamburg CDI

Susan Pape and Harmony’s V-Plus returned to international competition with a podium finish in the CDI5* Grand Prix Freestyle at Hamburg CDI (27 May – 1 June 2025), against a strong line-up at one of Germany’s most prestigious shows.

Hosted at Derby Park Klein Flottbek, this year’s CDI5* marked a new chapter in the long-standing German Show Jumping & Dressage Derby tradition, which dates back to 1955.

Following her success at Hagen CDI4* in April, Susan Pape made her mark at another top German show, claiming third in the Grand Prix Freestyle with Harmony’s V-Plus on 73.490%. This score placed the pair just behind British-based German rider Kathleen Kröncke with Uniteds Maerchen on 73.660%, whilst Sweden’s Sofie Lexner and Inoraline W topped the leaderboard on 76.720%.

Earlier in the week, Susan and her 11-year-old Vivaldi-sired stallion placed eighth in the Grand Prix on 67.870%, a class won by Germany’s Ingrid Klimke and Vayron NRW on 74.500%.

The German-based Brit was pleased with the performances and saw the outing as a valuable step back into the swing of competition. “Overall, I was very happy,” she said, “it has been a while since our last show in December 2024, so we definitely need to get back into the routine, starting with the rider who needs to ride the one-time changes better! I really blew them!”

Reflecting on the event itself, she added, “the Hamburg Derby is a very prestigious show with an incredible atmosphere. The place was packed and every ride in every class was honoured with great enthusiasm and applause.”
