Preview: Addington CDI and CPEDI

International dressage is set to be hosted on home soil this week as Addington Equestrian in Buckinghamshire promises an exciting week of competition and a full schedule of CDI and CPEDI classes (30 April - 5 May 2025).

CPEDI (30 April – 2 May)

The week kicks off with three days of para dressage, providing a key opportunity for Britain’s riders to impress ahead of major selection milestones this summer. With strong entries across Grades I to V, some of the top names to watch include Sophie Wells with LJT Egebjerggards Samoa, Georgia Wilson, Mari Durward-Akhurst, and Charlotte Cundall. Several up-and-coming combinations will also be looking to make their mark.

CDI (3 – 5 May)

The CDI takes place from Friday to Sunday, featuring Big Tour, Small Tour and Youth classes, with extensive British representation across the board.

In the Big Tour, spectators can look forward to top British names including Laura Tomlinson with both Full Moon and Issey, Richard Davison aboard Intero, and Gareth Hughes with Jens. Sadie Smith will also be in action with her 2024 Intermediate II National Champion ride Swanmore Dantina, whilst Lewis Carrier and his 2024 LeMieux National Champion partner Diego V add further strength to the line-up.

Seven-time Olympian Carl Hester will also be making a return to competition for the first time since the Games aboard his Paris 2024 medal-winning partner, Fiona C Bigwood’s 15-year-old stallion Fame.

The Small Tour is set to be just as competitive, with entries including Matt Frost and Kerouac, fresh from their Magic Prix St Georges Freestyle Gold win at the Winter Championships, and Sara-Jane Lanning with Choice, who will also contest the Big Tour with Hawtins Lirica.

In the U25 ranks, Charlotte Lutener will fly the flag with Full Fusion BS, whilst the Youth divisions will showcase exciting British talent looking to gain valuable international mileage and build on recent form.

With so many home riders in action and selectors watching closely, Addington promises a brilliant week of dressage. Whether attending in person or tuning in via livestream, spectators can expect top sport and stunning performances.
