This weekend, Somerford Park Farm in Cheshire welcomes a packed three-day fixture of High Profile and Premier League competition (23 – 25 May 2025). With classes ranging from young horse qualifiers to Grand Prix, it promises to be a showcase of top-tier dressage across the levels.
Friday’s opening day features High Profile classes from Medium to Grand Prix, setting the tone for a busy and competitive weekend. The Premier League action begins on Saturday, headlined by the LeMieux Grand Prix in Arena 1 which is scheduled for 2.07 pm on Saturday afternoon. Among the anticipated entries is Becky Moody and her 11-year-old stallion James Bond, looking to extend their impressive run of recent results. They’ll be joined by Darren Hicks and Tramontana Tiger Feet, Sarah Higgins and Samuel IV, and several other top contenders in what promises to be a high-calibre contest.
The LeMieux Grand Prix U25 follows on Sunday, providing a platform for talented young riders, including Charlotte Lutener and Jessica McConkey. As the race for summer championship team selection continues, Arena 2 will host the Youth Individual tests on Saturday afternoon from 12.15 pm, with the Team tests continuing on Sunday.
Plenty of Small Tour competition is set to take up the morning sessions on Saturday and Sunday, with some exciting combinations taking to the arena. Superflex Intermediate I Freestyle Champions David Harvey and Judy Peploe’s Diamond Blue will be in action, alongside Sara-Jane Lanning with her two rides Breit Fantastic and Choice I. Greg Sims with Waverley Fellini and Sarah Rao with Geniaal are also among the names to watch. The Bret Willson Dressage International Advanced Medium classes will also run across the weekend, with Tom Goode entered on both SCS L’Amour and Total Impact II, whilst Becky Moody brings forward her promising young ride Don Galahad.
The young horse classes get underway on Saturday afternoon, where combinations on the hunt for Semi-Final places will step forward to the KBIS Seven-Year-Old qualifier, followed by the KBIS qualifiers for four, five and six-year-old horses on Sunday afternoon. With FEI World Breeding Championships places also up for grabs, the age classes will without doubt be a highlight of the weekend, for both the KBIS and BD International tests.
Sunday also features the Stubben Intermediate II in Arena 1 from 12:30 pm. Greg Sims and Waverley Fellini, Michael Eilberg and MSJ Dante VX, as well as Sara Gallop and Rock That Tango, runner-up at last week’s Addington Premier League, are among the key names set to contest the class.
Somerford’s High Profile and Premier League is set to be an exciting three days heading into the mid-season, so stay tuned for the results and highlights.
