The final Summer Regional of 2025 produced a superb showcase of Scottish dressage at SNEC (9-10 August 2025), with a delightful double winner and 12 riders taking the titles and tickets to the LeMieux National Championships next month.
Jennifer Johnston-Harman was a double winner at SNEC, delivering two winning tests with her own seven-year-old Nightlife. The eye-catching chestnut gelding looked a picture under Jennifer to take the highest score of the show in the HorseQuest Gold, with a fantastic 74.70%, followed up with a 70% TopSpec Medium Gold.
In the BETTALIFE Novice Gold, West Lothian professional Jo Barry booked her ticket to Somerford Park with Viva Caledonia; the duo topped a competitive class with 71.34%, placing ahead of Ruth Edge and Lisa Marriott in second and third. The BETTALIFE Novice Silver title belonged to Imogen Casely and King Cotton Legacy. BD Youth rider Imogen is trained by Karen Dewar, who proudly took to Facebook to comment on her student, "she absolutely smashed it on Sunday and rode a solid novice test to produce a plus 70% and take the title and a direct qualification. It is an absolute pleasure to be part of Imogen and PJ’s journey and I feel she will be overtaking me soon. Carl has never moaned about Charlotte beating him!"
Carmen Gammie travelled home with two top placings earned with her lovely gelding Lets Make An Opera M; the pair took the top spot in the Bret Willson Advanced Medium Silver class, earning a superb 69.08%, which accompanied second place in the TopSpec Medium Silver where they also scored 69.44%.
In the Gold section of the Bret Willson Advanced Medium Regional Championships in Scotland, Bridget Tate's Dimaggio-sired mare Dancing Magic lived up to her name, twinkling her toes to 68.56%. The tall grey stands at 17.3hh and developed throughout the show under the direction of her rider, who spoke about her winning partner on social media, "Maggie got very nervous and shut down in the PSG which was a shame but regained her confidence to win the Advanced Medium Gold and qualify for the British Dressage Nationals Championships!"
Scottish breeding was on show in the Centre Line Prelim Silver class, where the six-year-old Dream of Donnerhall MFS (Dream Boy x Del Piero) produced the goods for owner-rider Christine Waugh. The combination were the sole pairing to break the magic 70% barrier, booking their spot at the grand finale next month.
Congratulations to all riders who earned tickets to the LeMieux National Championships, as well as everyone who took part. Thanks go to the at SNEC for a fantastic few days of Regional Championship competition.
