In front of a host of top international judges, Stella Mccomb completed a trio of international wins in Jerez de la Frontera at the CDI3* Real Escuela with her 17-year-old dancing partner Dos Alamos (Dressage Royal x Dream of Glory). In the Preliminary test, the pair opened their account with 70.661% in front of Anne Prain (FRA), Paula Nysten (FIN) and Cesar Lopardo Grana (ARG). The Team test saw them boost their score with a lovely performance for 74.100%, before closing their consistent week with 73.889% in the Children Individual, this time impressing Juan Carlos Campos Escribano (ESP), Jean-Michel Roudier (FRA) and Leif Toernblad (DEN).
Speaking about her superb results, Stella commented: "My experience in Jerez was something I’m so proud of and I’m so glad for all my hard training. Winning to me always makes me feel excited and proud, and especially makes me eager to compete once again and most importantly is me and Dos Alamos are going on the right path."
"He’s one of the most gentle horses you could ever meet," she continued, talking about her lovely Hanoverian, "he can be a bit lazy at times but I still love him." Stella and her family overcome veterinary complications with Dos Alamos, working patiently with their 'wonderful vet Javier' to bring the gelding to full fitness after a kissing spine diagnosis. With the health and happiness of her horse in mind, Stella won't progress onto Juniors next year and is enjoying every second with her soulmate partner.
As one of the Brits based abroad, Stella spoke about her experiences living and competing in Spain and Gibraltar: "Although I need to go from Gibraltar to Spain for my training during the week, living in Spain is amazing I love the weather here and the food is fantastic, and everyone here is kind and you can never feel alone."
The young rider describes herself as 'shy at first' but 'funny, loving and hardwork' - it's clear she has a strong passion for horses as she concluded, "my favorite things is to be around animals."
