Following a review of our Sport Operations function within British Dressage, a number of changes have been agreed by the Board to enable us to ensure that we have the right level of resources to support the development of the sport going forward.

With over 17,500 members and a record number of 270,000 starters last year, the sport has grown considerably in the last four years and inevitably the workload has also increased significantly at head office. We will therefore be recruiting for a number of additional roles in the coming weeks to build upon the substantial knowledge and experience that already exists within the department and bring the team to full strength.

As part of this process we will be looking to appoint a new Head of Sport Operations to manage the team overall. Amanda Heath, who has been in this role on an interim basis since June 2017, has decided to revert to the position of Regional Development Officer for the South West region on a permanent basis, with effect from 1 April 2018. We thank Amanda for all of her hard work and support over the past eight months, which has enabled us to manage the transition period effectively while the major investment in our IT systems has been in progress.

Rachel Smith has been promoted to Sport Operations Officer and will continue to support our para development programmes until a replacement Para Officer has been appointed on a full time basis. We will also be looking to recruit two Sport Operations Assistants to provide administrative support for the team as a whole.

Christina Stuart has joined the team on a full time basis as Fixtures Co-ordinator from January 2018, and will work closely with our Quest Co-ordinator, Monica Kilminster, to manage our new scheduling system. Lianne Martin continues to oversee our Senior and Para International programme, alongside Sharon Weir who co-ordinates the Under 21 International teams. As recently announced, as a result of our U21 International Strategic Review we will also shortly be looking to appoint a Performance Manager for our Pony, Junior and Young Rider squads in a newly created role.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic, enthusiastic and committed team who work closely together to help drive the sport of dressage in this country. They provide the engine for all of our competition activity, so we welcome applications for any of the following roles – and you too could be part of the British Dressage success story…
