A group of leading organisations has collaborated to create the ultimate free digital resource to support all equestrians navigating the challenges and opportunities of environmental sustainability.
Launching this autumn, thehoofprint.com will provide all equestrian organisations, venues and individuals with the information, training and inspiration they need to transform their businesses, yards and events into resilient and sustainable hives of activity.
From rainwater harvesting to paddock care, renewable energy to muck management, carbon footprint calculation to mending tack, the website will support every corner of the industry. Website creator Ruth Dancer of White Griffin said, “In order to have a healthy sport, we need everyone to be able to survive and thrive in the changes that lie ahead. This collaboration is a recognition that together we can support one another in quickly adapting to both protect our industry and the natural world.”
The working group driving the website forward includes Agria, NAF, British Equestrian, British Showjumping, British Dressage, British Eventing, The Pony Club, World Horse Welfare, RDA and ABRS+. CEO of British Equestrian, Jim Eyre commented; “It’s a core part of our federation-wide strategy to provide our members and the wider industry with the tools, knowledge and support needed to become resilient and sustainable. We want every individual to feel confident and inspired to make the changes necessary, and all of the organisations who’ve collaborated to create this free to use resource are proud to be part of such an exciting and important project.”
Have you already made positive changes at your yard for the environment? Ahead of the thehoofprint.com launch in autumn 2026, White Griffin want to hear from individuals, yard owners and businesses who are already taking steps to embed sustainability into their spaces. Get in contact to share your stories and help other equestrians to learn from your experiences.
Showcasing what can be achieved, will allow equestrians to embed a range of different measures that can save money, drive efficiencies and build resilience, while caring for our horses and protecting the environment. Over the summer, the team will be travelling the country to capture the brilliant examples of practical sustainability initiatives that already exist. So, if you have any examples of sustainability that you’d like to share, please contact the team at ruth@whitegriffin.co.uk.
As part of the project, the team are also hoping to track the changes that are taking place in the industry, as well as understand the information that equestrians really want from the website. A simple survey has been created, so click here and submit your entry to support the growth and future prosperity of the equestrian way of life.
