Petplan’s picks!

It was a very close podium finish in the Prelim Silver with the top three riders all getting around the 68% mark, however it was Katie Stuart and Foxhills Apostrophe Ess who took the win with 68.89%. This is their first year at the Petplan Equine Area Festivals after competing in the winter season at the championships in April. They are now off to the Summer Championships later this year with two qualifications as they also gained a ticket in the Novice Bronze.

Becky Nisbeitt was close behind to finish third on 68.47%, just missing out on a direct qualification with Drumcrin Lass but is hoping for a wild card she tells us, “I was over the moon! and it made up for my mistakes on Saturday in the Novice Bronze. I rode my circles the right size and didn’t for one second stop riding.”

Taking the highest placed U21 rider place in the Novice Bronze was Isobel Worthington and Machno Gabrielle with 67.01%. Fresh from competing at the Youth Inter Regional Championships at the end of June where the pair won the C Squad title they will now be aiming for the Petplan Equine Summer Area Festivals in the autumn.

Earning two tickets to Arena UK in the Advanced Medium Silver and Prix St Georges Silver is Nikki Leyton and Hollywood 1. Starting their journey together three years ago, competing at Novice, the pair have made their way up the levels to finally gain their debut Championship place.

Alexandra Ratcliffe and Heaven V/H Trichelhot’s season came to a sudden halt last year after attending the LeMieux National Championships where they came fifth in the Novice Silver due to kissing spine. Taking eight months out to have two surgeries and time to recover as well as rehabilitation the pair are back more determined than ever winning the Elementary Silver with 69.12%. Known at home as ‘the special one’ it is onwards and upwards for the pair after their main goal was to just complete an unaffiliated Novice test now they are learning changes and are aiming for Medium.
