Going Green at BDHQ
There have been many changes made at BDHQ to make sure that we are reducing our emissions and resource use.
Renewable energy
BDHQ is powered by renewable energy, and from 1 July 2024 we moved to a new green tariff.
A green tariff is a utility program that allows us to source up to 100% of our electricity from renewable source, such a using solar panels.
These tariffs also known as Renwable Energy Tariffs, reflect the cost of generating power from renewable sources and are designed to encourage the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. This was a big step in our sustainability strategy and BDHQ is now powered by renewable sources.
Efficient recycling
We have installed new office bins so that staff can recycle more efficiently, seperating paper, cardboard, waste and plastic.
This is important to do as it ensures we are minimising our environmental impact. Seperating the waste means that after collection the waste is sorted into type and then during processing the materials are being prepared for manufacturing. Processed materials are able to be used to make new products are recycling plants, this is important to help increase the use of recycled materials, completing the recycling loop.
All of the steps starting with recyling seperation are important to help ensure that materials are effectively recycled and reused.
Green team
We have formed a Green Team to support the British Dressage vision to create a biodiverse future. The Green Team support that vision by encouraging best practice, setting goals and reporting progress.
