Red Gorilla® strengthens its sustainability journey
As a UK manufacturer serving the equestrian, agricultural sectors, Red Gorilla® recognises the importance of making responsible decisions that support product performance, reduce environmental impact and contribute to improved welfare for horses and yard environments.
The business commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility influences every stage of the product lifecycle, from material selection and product design through to manufacturing, packaging, transport and end-of-life recyclability. For Red Gorilla®, sustainability is not a one-off project, but a central part of the long-term strategy and an ongoing process of improvement and innovation.
The discontinuation of Tyre Rubber™
One of the most significant milestones in Red Gorilla’s sustainability journey was completed in 2025 with the full discontinuation of the Tyre Rubber™ range.
Although Tyre Rubber™ products had been widely used across equestrian yards for many years, the range presented environmental challenges due to the manufacturing process, associated emissions of non-UK production, and the non-recyclable nature of the material. As part of Red Gorilla’s commitment to developing more responsible product alternatives, the decision was taken to fully phase out the range in 2025.
In its place, Red Gorilla® introduced more sustainable alternatives, including the Rubber Type and Gorilla Plas® ranges. These products are made in the UK using a non-porous recycled polymer and are fully recyclable at the end of their working life, strengthening the overall recycling credentials of the Red Gorilla® product range.
The move allowed Red Gorilla® to significantly reduce transport miles and supported lowering the organisation’s carbon footprint. Importantly, this has been achieved without compromising the durability, strength or quality customers expect from Red Gorilla® products.
Priorities for 2026 and beyond
As Red Gorilla® looks ahead, the company remains focused on continuous improvement of both its product range and internal practices. Sustainability is an ongoing journey, and the next phase will concentrate on practical, measurable steps that further reduce environmental impact while continuing to meet the needs of customers.
Key priorities include:
- Increasing recycled content across suitable product ranges.
- Continuing to review packaging materials and reduce unnecessary waste.
- Developing welfare-led product innovations that support safer, healthier horses.
- Creating practical products that help improve efficiency and organisation in yards, stables and working environments.
Red Gorilla® is proud to support the sustainability ambitions of British Dressage and the wider equestrian community. As the sector continues to place greater focus on environmental responsibility, Red Gorilla® is committed to playing its part by sharing best practice, making responsible manufacturing decisions and continuing to invest in product innovation.
The company understands that sustainability must work alongside durability, usability and value for customers, particularly in a time where costs are continually increasing. By focusing on long-lasting, recyclable and responsibly manufactured products, Red Gorilla® aims to support a more sustainable future.
