Youth Regional Competitions

Learn, experience team competition and have fun with your region at the Youth Inter Regionals and Youth Home Nations!

Youth Inter Regionals

29 - 30 June 2024 at Arena UK, Lincolnshire

In this exciting team competition, our regions battle it out for the honour of being the best in Great Britain. Teams are made up of three or four riders with each competitor riding the Youth Rider Skills Test for their relevant squad. Teams include riders from a minimum of three different level squads. Each region is allowed up to five teams so there’s plenty of opportunity to have a go at making it onto a team for your home area.

In addition to the team championships, individual champions are determined from the individual results in each of the team tests. To be selected to compete, there are a few requirements to be considered including scores, squads and regional training attendance.

Youth Home Nations

2 - 4 August 2024 at Mount Ballan, Monmouthshire

Ride for your country within regions and get the chance to wear your national flag! Held annually for under 25s, the BD Youth Home Nations brings together Ireland, Scotland, England and Wales as each nation vies for prestigious top honours. Compete in BD tests from Novice to Medium or FEI Children on Horses to Young Riders and contribute your score towards team and individual titles.

The exciting Home Nations format replicates CDI competitions with horse inspection vet checks and an opening ceremony before the action in the arena gets underway.

To be considered for selection a combination is required to:

  • Attend three BD training events in the 12-month period preceding the final selection date. (Residential camps, including regional training camps, Foundation Academies, National Academy, and international training camps are counted as two BD Regional Training events. One non-ridden educational session can be considered as well as a demonstration rider at an official BD event.)
  • Attended a Formal Squad Assessment either in-person or online between 1 December 2023 and 20 May 2024.
  • Provide competition results and details of their training criteria via an online application.
