Charlotte Fry
Lottie is the current FEI World Champion having won double gold at the 2022 Championships in Herning with Van Olst Horses and her own Glamourdale. Four years on can the duo retain their title?
Charlotte Fry (30) based in Den Hout, the Netherlands and originally from Scarborough, North Yorkshire, with Van Olst Horses and her own Glamourdale (black, stallion, 15yrs, 16.3hh, Lord Leatherdale x Negro, breeder: J. Rodenburg NED) and groom Richard Hauwaerts.
Currently ranked third in the FEI World Rankings, is in the bloodlines for Lottie Fry who's following in the footsteps of her late mother Laura Fry, who ran a successful competition yard in the UK and represented Team GB at the 1992 Games in Barcelona alongside Charlotte’s teammate and mentor Carl Hester. Lottie moved to the Netherlands in 2014, and was taken under the wing on Anne Van Olst where they have achieved great success. Lottie first encountered the international championship stage in 2010 at the FEI Pony European Championships, where the team finished fourth. Since then, she attended at Junior (2013 and 2014), Young Rider (2015 and 2017) and U25 level (2018, Individual Gold medal and team Bronze) before moving up to senior competition in 2019. Ever since then, Lottie has been a consistent feature on the British Teams, campaigning at four European Championships (2019, 2021, 2023 and 2025), three World Cup finals (2022, 2024 and 2025), a World Championship (2022, Team Silver, Individual Gold), seven Young Horse World Championships (2016, 2018, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025) and has been a part of two Bronze medal winning Olympic teams (2021 and 2024).
Glamourdale is a horse who needs no introduction. Joint owned by Lottie and Van Olst Horses, the prominent stallion won at the Young Horse World Championship Finals in 2018 as a seven-year-old and has been unstoppable ever since. The duo won both the Grand Prix Special and Freestyle competition at the Herning World Championships in 2022, where they broke into an exceptionally elite group of individuals by scoring 90.995% in the Freestyle competition. They eventually replaced that personal best at the Riesenbeck European Championships in 2023 where they scored 92.379%, a record that they have not broken since, and were a part of the Gold Medal winning team. At the same show they also set their current personal best score of 81.258% for the Grand Prix. Their personal best in the Special competition is currently 82.508%, which they achieved at the last World Championships in Herning in 2022. Their most recent score comes from CDIO5* Nations Cup Event at Fountainebleau back in April, where they scored 80.848% and 88.225% in the Grand Prix and Freestyle competition.
