There are a number of training opportunities for judges throughout the year to ensure all of our judges have plenty of opportunities to reach their required CPD hours.
All judges must attend one whole day seminar as a minimum per calendar year as part of their CPD requirements. The seminar can be either a national event (Principles of Judging Seminar) or a regional seminar. The attendee must ensure they register/ provide their tickets on arrival to ensure they are officially logged. Those not attending a whole day will not be able to log the seminar as CPD.
Principles of Judging Seminar
With live arena demonstrations and classroom sessions, our popular Principles of Judging Seminar is an interactive, immersive weekend of education led by some of our top judging talents. Covering Intro to Prix St Georges, sessions delve into discussion around quality of paces, lateral work, scales of marking, test riding and more with plenty of opportunities to participate, ask questions and voice your opinion.
In addition to the Principles of Judging seminar for Trainee to List 3a judges, we also host the annual seminar at Olympia International Horse Show for List 1, 2A and 2 judges. This is a classroom-based seminar, followed by the FEI Dressage World Cup™ Grand Prix with commentary.
National Judges Convention
Popular with judges, trainers, riders and dressage fans alike, the National Judges Convention usually takes place in April. Next year's event will be confirmed nearer the time.
Judge training at the LeMieux National Championships includes discussions and running commentary whilst watching the competition.
