ADAS Equine Land Management Academy
Module 1: Introducing the ADAS Equine Land Management Academy
The ADAS Equine Land Management Academy is a library of online courses, created by our sustainability and land management partners ADAS Equine. It is specially designed to address the land management needs of all horse owners and equine land managers.
About Module 1 – Introduction to Sustainable Land Management
ADAS Equine Land Management Academy Module 1 is a structured 2.5 hour course on sustainable yard management. It comprises of several 15-30 min pre-recorded, webinar-style presentations about:
- Yard management (yard energy use, manure management, and water use)
- Pasture management (methods, tools, and grazing calendars)
- Water quality (legislation and how to avoid pollution)
Each presentation is followed by an additional exercise that will help you apply the knowledge to your own case and hopefully apply some of the solutions we talk about in practice. Feel free to take notes throughout and engage in the exercises to make the most out of this course.
This module will help you answer the below questions:
- How can sustainable land management serve our horses?
- What does ‘sustainable’ mean for equine land?
- How can improving sustainability save money?
- What are some of the easy and more complex solutions I could implement in my yard, pastures and stables to improve the general sustainability and make my paddock more environmentally friendly?
The course is aimed at anyone who is interested in general equine land management, currently owns or manages horses, manages pastures and stables and would like to learn more about improvements on how to make positive changes in their premises.

ADAS Equine can also undertake soil sampling to better understand your land, whilst offering advice to help grass growth and quality. One to one site visit
An ADAS advisor will come to your yard or facility and do a site visit covering a range of aspects of sustainable land management to suit your needs – agreed in advance. The visit will be written up as a short, easy to read report summarising key findings with recommendations and advice. Price based on yards of up to 50ha (for larger please enquire separately).
Remote site visit
Still want support, but can’t stretch to a full site visit? Take one of our team on a virtual tour of your yard via TEAMS or Zoom. We will focus on the areas that are most important for you and provide a report with key findings and recommendations. Price based on yards up to 50ha (for larger please enquire separately.
Soil sampling guidance
Are you completely bamboozled by how to soil sample and what to do with the results? A FACTs qualified advisor will explain how to take your own samples and send them to the lab for analysis. They will then interpret the analysis and provide you with fertiliser recommendations suitable to your field(s).
