Meet Gareth Hughes, former World Championship team rider and British National Champion, who brings more than a decade of elite international experience to BD Presents on Saturday 21 November at Hartpury University & College.
A former British National Champion, Gareth has won more than 60 National and International titles and represented Great Britain at European and World Championships, as well as being Team GBR reserve for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
Gareth has been part of multiple medal winning teams, including the 2023 European Championship gold medal team, 2021 European Championship silver, 2013 European Championship bronze, and 2014 and 2022 World Championship silver teams.
Born in Yorkshire and raised in Australia, where he lived until his early twenties, Gareth first developed an interest in horses through western riding and showing, rather than dressage. He moved back to the UK in 1998, aged 23, where he became involved in dressage and began competing. Gareth is based in Warwickshire with his wife and fellow dressage rider, Rebecca Hughes.
Gareth’s extensive championship, competition and training experience makes him a valuable addition to BD Presents.
