Following some personnel changes in both the North & East and Wales Regions, at Development Officer and committee level, British Dressage can confirm some important appointments to help us manage regional activity for members.

North & East Region

British Dressage is delighted to announce that Charlotte Nichols has taken on the role of North & East Regional Chair, succeeding Sarah Farrand, who has now stepped down from this position after serving a four year term.

Charlotte steps into the position with a strong understanding of the region and a commitment to supporting members, volunteers and officials across North & East. She is a familiar face to those based in the North & East region and beyond, through her roles as a List 1 judge, coach, venue organiser, youth assessor, mentor and many more. She will work closely with the regional committee to represent members’ interests and continue the development of dressage at all levels.

British Dressage would like to extend its sincere thanks to Sarah Farrand, who steps down from the role after her time as Regional Chair. Sarah’s dedication, hard work and valued contribution to the region have been greatly appreciated, and we thank her for everything she has given during her tenure.

While the recruitment process to appoint a permanent Development Officer for the North & East region remains ongoing, Vikki Hayton has kindly agreed to help support the region on an interim basis over the next three months. As a former Chair for the North & East Region and a member of the Training Committee, as well as a BD accredited coach and assessor, Vikki has a wealth of knowledge and experience she will bring to the role. We are very grateful for her support.

The Regional Committee is also pleased to confirm that Gwyneth Lewis has agreed to step into the vacant Judges’ Representative role. Gwyneth’s appointment brings the committee back to full strength, ensuring a broad range of experience and perspectives to support the region moving forward.

British Dressage would like to thank all those involved for their continued commitment to the sport and wish Charlotte, Vikki and Gwyneth every success in their new roles.

Wales Region

There are also changes underway in Wales. After almost ten years in post, Vanessa Archer will be stepping down as Development Officer for Wales in late May. During her tenure, Vanessa has made a significant contribution to the growth and development of dressage in the region; supporting members, volunteers and officials with dedication and enthusiasm. British Dressage would like to thank Vanessa sincerely for her commitment and the lasting impact she has had during her time in the role.

We are pleased to confirm that Anna Roberts will be taking the reins as Development Officer for Wales next month after a handover period with Vanessa, providing continuity for the region. Anna brings with her a strong understanding of the sport and the regional network through her years of involvement with the committee, and we look forward to working closely with her as she continues to support our members across Wales.

With Anna moving into the Development Officer role, a new Youth Representative for the region will be announced in due course, further strengthening opportunities for young people to be involved and have their voices represented within British Dressage.

Several volunteers across our regional committees are approaching the end of their terms. As a result, British Dressage is recruiting for a number of regional representative roles to ensure the continued strength, diversity and effectiveness of our committee structure across the three nations.

Full details of the current vacancies can be found on the BD website, and we encourage anyone who is interested in joining our fantastic team of volunteers to put themselves forward and help us shape the future of dressage in their region.  Click on the link below for more details.
