Delight for Dujardin at Nieuw en st. Joosland CDI

It was once again Charlotte Dujardin’s day as she made a welcome return to the international arena at the first major outdoor CDI in the Western European calendar hosted at De Kroo Ruitersport Niew en st. Joosland, Holland (3 – 8 April 2018).

After her 80%+ debut test at Hartpury last month Mount St John Freestyle more than lived up to expectations as she took victory in both the Grand Prix and Grand Prix Freestyle classes with Charlotte in the saddle. The Hanoverian mare by Fidermark earned scores of 75.15% and 81.45% for her efforts with the individual marks showing much promise for the year ahead. Across their two performances Charlotte and Freestyle earned a plethora of nines and even an elusive 10 for their final passage in the Grand Prix test.

Proud owner Emma Blundell of Mount St John Stud took to Facebook after the duo’s debut victory to praise their super result. ‘The whole team at MSJ are so proud of this combination already winning their first international GP with +75%!! Charlotte Dujardin’s brilliant event continued as she managed to take a hat trick of wins in the Small Tour classes with her own Florentina. The eye catching grey mare showed impressive consistency to gain 77.76% in the Prix St Georges, 77.05% in the Intermediate I and 78.80% in the Intermediate I Freestyle.

Sharing the same first name and the same flair in the arena, Charlotte Fry impressed in Nieuw en St. Joosland aboard her 2017 Young Rider Championship team partner Dark Legend. Charlotte and the Van Olst owned gelding by Zucchero took third place in both the highly competitive U25s Intermediate II and the U25s Grand Prix with 71.79% and 70.64% before going on to finish fourth in the U25s Grand Prix Freestyle with another brilliant score of 73.47%. The three marks are U25s tour personal bests for Charlotte and Dark Legend who made their debut at the level in March at the CDI-W ‘s-Hertogenbosch. Charlotte also took first place in the Intermediate I small final with the Van Olst’s Fendi T, an eight-year-old chestnut son of Negro.

Great Britain was well represented in the U21s classes with 11 riders attending the show to contest the Pony, Junior and Young Rider classes. 2017 Pony team rider Megan Barratt took the highest placing of the group after earning 71.90% and second in the Team test with Valido’s Starlight, whilst Annabella Pidgley earned third place in the same class with the elegant Constantin sired mare Ine.
