FEI European Championships 2026: Children Individual and Junior Freestyle Results

On the final day of competition, Amelia Dovey produced a top-five finish in the Children's Freestyle, whilst Isla Sully, Stella McComb and Sebastian Houlston post strong scores to round off a fantastic week at the FEI Children and Junior European Championships.

Children on Horses Individual 

Amelia Dovey was the final Children on Horses rider to compete, delivering an outstanding, harmonious test with Sheepcote Jackson to finish just outside of the medals in fourth place. In front of judges Alban Tissot (E – FRA), Knut Danzberg (E – GER), Marten Van der Heijden (H – NED), Thomas Land (C – AUT) and Gabriela Valerianova (B – CZE), Amelia finished on a final score of 77.273%. Amelia showed incredible maturity in her riding, finishing the week with growing confidence to gain a 71.296% Technical score and 83.250% Rider score. Following a positive entrance and beautifully square halt, Amelia showed excellent positioning throughout the lateral work, and bold medium trots that earned Amelia an 8.0 for her Rider Position and Seat, 8.5 for Effectiveness of Aids, 8.3 for Precision and 8.5 for her General Impression. Reflecting on her performance, Amelia commented that “the test went really well. Jackson was completely on it in the warmup and showed some amazing work throughout the test. He was feeling on top form for this test, and he certainly showed it in the arena boards. I felt like he just went in and thought ‘I have got this’. Overall, he felt incredible and I don’t feel like we could have done any more”.

Stella McComb also qualified for the Children’s Individual competition and finished in 13th position having produced another impressively consistent performance to finish her European Championship experience. Following her accurate, harmonious test, Stella scored 67.222% for her technical score, 75.750% for her Rider score and 71.486% for her final score. Despite a couple of minor wobbles in the canter work, Stella earned a 7.7 for her Rider Position and Seat, 7.5 for both Effectiveness of Aids and Precision, and 7.6 for her General Impression.

Sebastian Houlston also produced a brilliant final performance, presenting a positive, energetic test. Unfortunately, Seb and Flo had a mistake in the counter canter serpentine that proved extremely costly on their final mark. This mistake was handled exceptionally well by Seb, who made a balanced transition back to trot in order to correct the canter lead, and got them back on track. This mistake resulted in him receiving a 64.629% Technical score, 72.750% Rider score and 68.690% Final score.  Included in the rider score, Seb scored 7.9 for his Rider Position, 7.2 for General Impression, and 7.0 for both his Effectiveness of the Aids and Precision. "I'm really happy with the way my test went yesterday", Seb commented, "apart from the mistake in the counter canter, my test was very accurate and on my seat. I was really happy with the way she [Flo] tried her hardest, but overall I'm happy". 

Junior Freestyle

Isla Sully was the sole Junior rider to qualify for the Freestyle on the final day. Isla and Vagabond danced their way round a James Bond themed Freestyle that engaged the judges and spectators alike. Presenting in front of judges Marlena Gruca-Rucinska (E – POL), Frederico Pinetus (H – POR), Henning Lehrmann (C – GER), Mariette Sanders-Van Gansewinkel (M – NED) and Christine Prip (B – DEN), Isla cruisied her way around the Freestyle, captivating the audience with her highly technical floor plan. The duo maintained exceptional harmony and relaxation throughout the test, showing brilliant technical precision and polished lateral work. Following a bold extended canter, Isla had an unfortunate mistake on the final centre line, affecting their final tempi changes which was hugely costly, bringing their final score down to 72.995%. “Yesterday’s Freestyle test summed up all the highs and lows of dressage”, Isla remarked, “We were on for a really good score and a possible podium place, but unfortunately had a miscommunication on the last centre line which dropped us out of contention. However, I am so proud of all we have achieved together on this amazing journey, and I am so grateful for all the amazing support and such a wonderful team.”
