The FEI Dressage World Cup™ Final takes place this week in the Saudi Arabian capital of Riyadh (16 – 20 April 2024) where reigning double World Champion Lottie Fry will make her second World Cup Final appearance.

Lottie and Everdale (pictured), second in the FEI Dressage World Cup™ Western European League (WEL) following wins at Mechelen and Amsterdam, and runner-up spots at London and 's-Hertogenbosch, will be representing Great Britain at the Final, which, for the first time in the series’ 37-year history, will be held in the Middle East – at the state-of-the-art Riyadh International Convention and Exhibition Centre at the Saudi Arabian capital.

Throughout the 2023-2024 series, the Netherlands-based Brit has accumulated an impressive total of 74 points with Van Olst Horses' 15-year-old Everdale (Lord Leatherdale x Negro), putting her just behind Germany’s Isabell Werth (77 points), who will be making her 25th appearance in the Final, and ahead of Sweden’s Patrik Kittel who sits third in the standings on 72 points.

The level of competition in Riyadh is expected to be intense, with seven pairs already achieving impressive scores above the 80% mark in their previous World Cup™ appearances, together with almost half the athletes - eight out of 17 – participating in an FEI Dressage World Cup™ Final for the first time. The best qualification result of all the finalists was achieved by Lottie and Everdale, her Tokyo 2020 ride, when posting 88.18% at Amsterdam’s qualifier, closely followed by Isabell Werth and Emilio who scored 87.95% at Basel. However, the German contender will not ride Emilio in the Final as the horse has sustained a minor injury and will be replaced by DSP Quantaz - her winning partner at 's-Hertogenbosch CDI-W, the 11th and final leg of the 2023-2024 Western European League.

The opening round of dressage gets underway on Wednesday 17 April with the Grand Prix, starting at 11:15 BST. The Grand Prix Freestyle, which will decide the 2024 World Cup Champion, takes place on Friday 19 April at 15:15 BST.
