The sixth British Dressage Premier League at the iconic southern venue of Hickstead got underway yesterday with three futher days of action planned. Alice Oppenheimer who brings a number of horses from the Headmore Stud opened her account early with a win in the Intermediate A on Tuesday. Dannie Morgan is also already a winner with Lisa Morgan and David Knox’s Knoxx’s Figaro in one of three Fairfax Prix St Georges sections which gives them a spot at the LeMieux National Championships in September.

Alongside the Premier League action, there’s the Championship finals of The Hickstead Masters, qualifiers for the MCI (Iberian Dressage Masters) Championships and qualifiers for the Hickstead Young Horse Championships.

The action continues throughout today with Saracen Horse Feeds Inter I and Inter B classes. Tomorrow, there’s a Cavalor Inter II section which qualifies the winner for the Nationals while on Friday the Grand Prix action starts with a 21-stong entry for the LeMieux qualifier plus a dedicated u25 Grand Prix class alongside Team Tests for our FEI Pony, Junior and Young Rider competitors which are crucial as we’re nearing final selection for the three Team NAF squads.

Saturday is the finale with Grand Prix Special and Freestyle classes plus the Individual tests for the under 21 riders for one final chance to impress the Selectors. Plus, an all-important direct qualifier for the Equine Construction Advanced Medium Championships at Stoneleigh.

See below for a full timetable. There’s an amazing entry with some of dressage’s top competitors all vying for ribbons but names to watch out for include; Tom Goode, Andrew Gould, Daniel Watson, Henry Boswell, Hannah Biggs, Pammy & Pippa Hutton, Matt Hicks, Isobel Wessels, Vicky Thompson Winfiled, Emile Faurie, Liz Deigutis, Natalie Kayal, Rebecca Hughes, Sadie Smith, Nichola Buchanan and Lizzie Murray – but there’s plenty of other riders who could earn a spot on the podium over the coming days.
Entry today is free and then on Thursday it’s £10, Friday is £20 and Saturday £25.
