Following another successful RoR National Championships at Aintree Equestrian Centre in Liverpool, Retraining of Racehorses (RoR) will be back at the same venue on Saturday 3rd November 2018 with its first ever RoR Showcase.

An inspirational training and educational event designed by RoR to highlight the talent and transition of thoroughbred racehorses to their second careers, the day is for anyone interested in former racehorses or considering having one, from grassroots to elite level.

Visitors to the new RoR Showcase, which is supported by The Racing Foundation, will have the chance to enjoy live demonstrations and clinics featuring over 20 former racehorses, as well as a wide range of up-close demos, in and around two Arenas. Showing, dressage, jumping, eventing, endurance, natural horsemanship, western riding, long lining, and horseball will all be showcased.

A line up of top trainers and experts including Olympian eventer Jeanette Brakewell, show producer Katie Jerram-Hunnable, British Dressage Training Director Paul Hayler, natural horseman Guy Robertson and other equine specialists will share their knowledge on selecting, caring for, and retraining the thoroughbred after racing for various equine disciplines. Other racing industry experts include racehorse trainer Bryan Smart and vet Jenny Hall discussing the racehorse as an athlete and its transition to a new career, using real racehorses.

One of the star attractions will be the popular educational company Horses Inside Out staging a live painted horse demonstration. Equine anatomist and sports therapist Gillian Higgins will paint the musculoskeletal system of a former racehorse throughout the day to highlight the physical changes in the transition from racehorse to riding horse.
In addition, there will be an Ask The Experts Lounge where visitors will have the opportunity to ask one-to-one questions and gather more tips and advice from all the experts.

The day runs from 9am to 5pm and will culminate with the RoR Grand Showcase finale featuring all of the day’s retrained horses including 2014 Grand National winner Pineau De Re and former Royal Ascot winner Namibian.

Di Arbuthnot, RoR Chief Executive explains: “The RoR Showcase is intended to inspire and educate trainers, riders and owners at every level involved or interested in transitioning former racehorses to second careers, as well as providing information on the care, training and sale of these horses. This is a fantastic opportunity to come along and meet a host of experts and industry professionals all under one roof.”
