Myerscough College hosted four days of action packed High Profile competition (1 - 4 April 2026), hosting a range of opportunities for FEI classes along with KBIS young horse qualifiers.
Across its four day programme, Myerscough High Profile delivered a vibrant showcase of early season promise, drawing an exciting mix of FEI level combinations, young horses and ponies, and riders contesting across all levels.
The LeMieux U25 Grand Prix delivered a standout moment as 18-year-old Ruby Hughes made an impressive debut aboard her exciting new ride, Farrell, securing the win on 69.06%. The previous day, the promising new partnership also contested the Intermediate II Gold, where they earned 68.08% to place fourth in front of judges Richard Baldwin, Jane Critchley and Harry Payne. Reflecting on their performances, Ruby shared on Instagram that “Farrell was just unbelievable and gave me the most confident feeling in the arena”, signalling an exciting season ahead for the young rider and the talented gelding.
Meanwhile, Emma Jablonksi secured two personal best scores by coming second in the Stübben Intermediate II with a strong 69.26% and taking the win in the LeMieux Grand Prix with her own Higgens van de Uilenhoek (Connaiseur x Montechristo). The Stübben Intermediate II was won by Jessica McConkey riding her own Wilson Stensvang (Wilkens x Don Schufro) on 70.69%. Jessica commented on Instagram to say: “he’s really stepping up and becoming everything I always knew he could be”.
Wednesday showcased the upcoming talent of young horses and ponies in the KBIS Young Horse semi-final qualifier tests, judged by Jenny Ward and Fiona Lace. Starting with the KBIS Young Pony qualifier for five-year-olds, the class was won by Vanessa Haunch on her own Popsters Spencer P (Popsters Rafael x Glebedale Jonny Depp) on 70.40%, and the six-year-old KBIS Young Pony class was won by Laura Taylor and her own Penddolfawr Hefina (Rhydfendigaid the guvnor x Thorneyside the guvnor) who scored 64.80%.
The KBIS Young Horse Four-Year-Old class was won by Rachael Slinger with Emma Blundell’s MSJ Sominka on 78.60%, closely followed by runner up Greg Sims riding Stena Hoerner’s Furstin Lady on 73.80%. The hot KBIS Young Horse Five-Year-Old class was won by Lucas Patrick Smyth riding his own Rhythm Island (Jameson RS2 x Sir Sinclair) on 78.80%.
Thursday saw Lily Laughton take first and second place in the KBIS Young Horse qualifier for six-year-olds. EQP Deidre (Dreamboy x Danone), owned by Georgia Keegan, scored 81.00% to take the win and Viva Valentine (Viva Gold x Ampere), owned by Amanda Crouch, took second on 77.40%.
In the International Young Horse 6YO Preliminary test, judged by Jenny Ward and Andrea Smith, Tyla Schou took the win on Laura Tomlinson’s Vallemaggia (Vivino x Sarkozy) on a score of 81.20%. The International Young Horse 5YO test was won by Greg Sims aboard Stena Hoerner’s British bred Kilan’s Double07 (Desperado x Lord Leatherdale) with 76.40%.
The FEI PYO classes saw some of our best youth riders going head to head, with Amelia Dovey (11) securing the win on both days. On Saturday, Amelia won the FEI PYO class on Leslie Forlee’s Bocelli 6 on a score of 69.50%. On Sunday, Amelia went ahead to win the FEI PYO aboard Hannah Dovey’s Sheepcote Jackson on 71.59%, narrowly taking the win ahead of Seb Houlston riding his own Full Fusion BS who scored 71.58% to come second. Amelia then came third with Bocelli 6 on 70.70%, with all three combinations securing their international qualifying score. Amelia’s mother, Hannah Dovey, commented “Both of the horses are just incredible, and Amelia has only ridden them a handful of times. To see her go into the arena with such confidence and maturity at her age makes us unbelievably proud. She works so hard at home, and we’re delighted to see that shine through. A massive thank you goes to Boccelli’s owner, Leslie, who allowed her to have this opportunity”.
Thanks go to the organisers at Myerscough College for delivering a superbly run event, and congratulations to all riders and connections for their hard work and excellent performances throughout the competition.
