N&E Senior Inter Regionals Team Winner 2022

26 teams contested the honours from all over the UK.  With Individual as well as team titles on offer the competition was fierce from the start. The three days ended with total domination for teams and individuals from the North & East BD region, with three out of eight teams representing the region taking all three podium places.

North & East horse and rider combinations competing for the individual titles took advantage of their super scores and ensured that yet again they were in control taking first positions at Prelim, Novice, Elementary and Medium levels.

Alison Timmins with Johnny Fletch, an 8-year-old, KWPN bay gelding, from the winning North & East Stuttgard Team made it a clean sweep with first place on the podium as an individual at Medium level achieving a combined score of 134.82.

Further spoils were spread throughout the North & East region teams with Kate Wallett taking the overall Prelim title accompanied on the podium by Clare Hooper and Charlie Trevor also from the same region.  Kate added to her spoils taking home a second team place so was overjoyed with her teammates and her horse Mr Hennesy B TCE, a five-year-old, 16.2hh Liver Chestnut gelding. Her scores of 71.8% and 69.6% certainly contributed hugely to that result.

Elaine Wormwell with her 15.2hh, German bred seven-year-old gelding First Midnight Blue just pipped Lucia Preece from Wales for the Novice title with the slimmest of margins at 0.17%of a point ahead.

Jessica Griffiths on RS Furst Love, her seven-year-old 16.2hh bay gelding won the Elementary individual class with a huge 145.84 combined score, the highest of all the individual winners.  Her scores of 71.72% and 74.12% gave her an unassailable lead to gain top position on the podium.

“I couldn’t be prouder of our North & East Teams at the Senior Inter Regional competition at Bishop Burton, commented Vikki Hayton, North & East Region Trainer.  “Our focus, as a region, over the last eight years, has been to develop our Flexi training system, to ensure that all our members have access to top level trainers. I feel that we are now achieving our aims, having won the Home International in 2021 and the Inter Regionals at the weekend. We now have a robust training programme and a wide selection of talented combinations, from which to select our teams.

As I approach the end of my second four-year term as Chair of the North & East Region, I couldn’t be more delighted with their fantastic results, none of which would have been possible without our hardworking and dedicated DO, Jo Byrne and our committee. I feel as the term ends, I can pass on to my successor, a healthy, thriving region, with a superb foundation, a network of dedicated volunteers and generous sponsors, so that we can go on to continue with our success.

Bishop Burton have again been wonderful hosts and a huge thank you needs to go to them too, for a very well-run competition.”

British Dressage thanks the team at Bishop Burton for putting on a fantastic three days of competition. congratulations to all the winning teams and individuals plus of course everyone who took part.
