The Summer Regional Championships at Mount Ballan Manor in Monmouthshire (3 - 5 August 2018) was full of excitement and fierce competition which kept everyone on the edge of their seat.

The highest score of the show was awarded to Lucy Cartwright riding Frederico (pictured), a five-year-old Franziskus-sired bay gelding owned by Justin Wessels. Lucy and Frederico scored 72.04% in the Dodson & Horrell Novice Gold after a superb performance by the pair.

Lucy was very busy throughout the show and rode four horses in the Childéric Saddles Elementary Gold, Dodson & Horrell Novice Gold, TopSpec Medium Gold and Fairfax Saddles Prix St Georges Gold, putting up a good mark in each of her tests. Lucy also recently married her fiancé Daniel Bremner, so congratulations!

Debra Fews and her own British bred eight-year-old Fabizio scored the highest in the Dodson & Horrell Novice Silver with a score of 71.48% to take top place on the podium.

In the Fairfax Saddles Prix St. Georges Gold, only 0.83% split first and second in a well fought battle. Serena Pincus clinched first place riding Sheepcote Corelator who is a home bred gelding by Contendro I and is owned by her husband, David Pincus.

Serena is based in Bartestree, Herefordshire, with David and they run Sheepcote Equestrian, where they train both horses and riders from Novice to Grand Prix level.

The winner of the TopSpec Medium Silver was Jane Morris with Quinet du Buisson Z. Quinet du Buisson Z is a Dutch bred nine-year-old gelding and is owned by Jane herself. The pair impressed judges Sue Petty (E), Andrea Smith (C) and Carole Thornton (M) which led them to score 69.82% and claim first place.

Melanie Phillips and her nine-year-old Showmaker daughter, Ruxton Showgirl, scored the highest in the TopSpec Medium Gold with a score of 70.27%. Melanie is based in the Wye Valley with her husband Julian at River View Livery where she breeds and produces young competition horses.

Congratulations to all the qualified riders and regional champions. British Dressage thanks the team at Mount Ballan and all involved for a successful Regional Championships, and the National sponsors for their generous support.
