Festival Focus - Beacons Equestrian 21

Beacons Equestrian (24 – 26 July) is a popular venue for PetPlan Equine riders who are looking to make their way to the Summer Championships in October. Giving the judges hoof perfect tests to gain all important scores to contest the title at Arena UK. The last festival for a busy weekend of shows in July riders gave it their all to be the best.

Winning the Medium Bronze on her homebred Welsh Section D, Cwmpandy Carlo with 66.08%, Caryl Thomas is swapping her Questing days for PetPlan Equine Championships. Only starting their journey together at festivals this year, the pair are on top form producing winning tests all season. The twelve year-old mare also had a very successful Team Quest career with ‘Gang Green’ but now focused on winning sashes in the PetPlan arena.

Another Welsh cob who was on winning from was Cwmfedwen Awel Mai, in the Novice Bronze with 73.06%. Young rider, Elin Harries, whose first year it is competing is on her way to the PetPlan Equine Championship in October to try her hand at winning the title. Also, a previous Quester, on another ride, Elin is also taking the PetPlan pathway after having a very successful few shows this year on her new ride.

Brendan Tegg had an amazing weekend on all three horses, winning the Medium Bronze and Silver on Foxcourt Solar Eclipse with 69.07% and Sunset Boulevard on 67.99%, retrospectively and coming second in the Silver on Haybrook Lucia. Foxcourt Stud is on winning streak with both horses having previous experience at the Winter Championships earlier this year. With it only being her third Medium, Haybrook Lucia, bred by Haybook Stud, they are super please with her progress, “She is gradually gaining confidence in the arena. She does like to see demons, A couple of small blips but a respectable +67% second place and now qualified for the finals at Arena UK.”
