Festival Focus - Easton College Equestrian  21

The first summer festival of the year at Easton College (7– 10 July) was the start of an amazing season of dressage, competing for places at the Petplan Equine Area Summer Championship at the start of October. Qualified riders will compete to gain a place at the Championships by winning over the judges.

Petplan’s picks!

Jackie Aarons and her fifteen-year-old mare, Opposition Angle One were off to a flying start in the Novice and Freestyle Music Silver with 69.24% and 74.25% retrospectively. The pair have only been together for three years and will be their first time at the Championships in October. With two personal bests in both classes Jackie is over the moon with the result, “To win a strong Novice Silver class was out of this world then to go on and win the Novice Freestyle also beyond any of my wildest dreams!...So pleased with Bea she was a Superstar.”

Young rider Ruby-Lou Morphey made her debut with her new ride Billy Rocket in the Prelim silver with a winning score of 68.54%. Mum, Rachel takes to social media to express her pride, “We had only owned Billy for 7 weeks! I’m super proud of them both!”

It was a winning day for Bethan Young and Jackpots Vitalia, who won three classes; Freestyle Music Elementary Bronze with 73.59%, Medium Bronze with 68.33% and Freestyle Music Medium Bronze on 68.17%; also coming second in the Elementary Bonze with 69.90%. An amazing achievement for this pair, after only competing in one test at each level previously, in order to qualify for this show. We will be seeing the pair in all four classes in October, their first appearance in the summer competition.

It was worth the three-hour trip for Sarah Jacklin on her ten-year-old gelding, Good Speed in the Freestyle Music Advanced Medium with 65.94%. Their second test at this level, the pair had their ‘jazz hooves’ on to take the win. Competing regularly together since 2018 we look forward to welcoming them to the Championships.
