Festival Focus - Kingswood Equestrian 21

The first Midlands festival of the summer at Kingswood Equestrian (15 – 18 July) was a great start of another amazing season of dressage, all competing for places at the Petplan Equine Area Summer Championship in October. This is the chance for riding combinations to put their best foot forward and secure their ticket to the Championships.

From ‘backed to Prix St George in five years,’ Rhiannon Hinton is very proud of their achievement together with Quaikin Horatio, known as Bob at home with 67.54 % in the Bronze. Their second competition at this level, the pair quickly decided to attend another show before the school holidays, to qualify for the Championships in October. They have grown a lot together recently and learning how ‘less is more’ to achieve their dreams.

NHS worker, Jo Weekes and Rossettis’s Destiny earned their ticket with 68.29% in the Advanced Medium Silver. The chestnut gelding has been with Jo for three years, and after competing in the Elementary Winter championships last year they are looking to come for another chance at a higher title.

Gemma Pinson and her fourteen-year-old gelding, Spitfire have another chance at the Championships in the Inter I Silver after achieving 64.34%. The combination has had a tough year after qualifying last year but Gemma sadly lost her father so was unable to attend. She states, “It’s been a tough journey picking myself up and getting back to this point and have questioned myself many a time if I could ever do it all again, so I’m proud that we’re even back in the arena dancing.” They have to be proud to be winning at this level again in the 29 degree English heatwave; looking forward to the finals in October.
