Petplan’s picks!

Alexandra Ratcliffe is back to contest her title after winning the Novice Bronze at the PetPlan Equine Winter Championships. This time with two horses, winning the Elementary Bronze and Silver with Heaven V/H Trichelhof, 71.47% and Shadana, 70.88%. Alexandra cannot believe they ‘pulled it out the bag,’ especially with two horses at this level, “this was genuinely a big ask of both of them, but somehow with the luck of the gods he made all the lifts and turns and smashed it to win the elementary bronze.” Shadana has been out of work for a while and she was unaware if she would be ready for the competition but she smashed her expectations, Alexandra being proud that both horses gave their all.

Emily Bailey took her debut in the Novice Bronze with Valentina II with 68.33%, the pair who have been together since 2019 took to the arena to showcase their skills together to gain their place at the Petplan Equine Summer Championships. Lauren Williamson, trainer to the winners took to social media to express their excitement, “So happy for these superstars! Great team effort and a super proud trainer moment.”

No stranger to competition, Ellie Roberts and Zante won the Prix St George Bronze with 65.70%. After a busy year at the Keysoe International, Under 21 Championships and Premier League they have come to claim their title in the PetPlan series. BD Youth rider, Emily recently took part in the National Academy program, where she game home, “feeling so inspired and motivated to improve in so many areas. We covered so much in every aspect of being an athlete.” We look forward to seeing what this combination can achieve.
