Petplan’s picks!

Siobhan Shepherd, our highest placed Under 21 rider in the Petplan Equine Novice Silver with Park Etiquette, will be making her way to Hartpury in April. “I had a great day at Northallerton Equestrian Centre on Sunday, it was very well run and organised. I felt my horse didn’t go as well as she could of but she still achieved a score of 65% with the judge at C having us on 66%,” said Siobhan.

Buying ‘Ellie’ four years ago, the mare had never competed in affiliated dressage before, “she knew virtually nothing and have been competing her affiliated for around two and a half years now, right through from Intro to Elementary. She is 18 now so I have stepped back down to Novice as she was struggling slightly with the harder Elementary movements.” The pair have enjoyed competing together and always give it their all, “I really enjoy competing BD the atmosphere is always pleasant, and shows are always very well run.”

Our Petplan Equine Medium Bronze winner Abigail Gray is back for the winter season, after coming third at the Petplan Equine Summer Area Festival Championships in the Elementary Bronze with Godrics Campeggio. The thirteen year old gelding started his dressage career with young rider Abigail early last year at Novice and have since made their way up the levels.

Anja Brailsford gained two tickets to Hartpury in the Prix St Georges Bronze and Intermediate I Bronze with Westhills Jelly Bean. The skewbald mare (Jasper B) has been with Anja for over nine years, with the pair only stepping up to Intermediate at the end of last year. Posting on social media Anja talks about her team, “thank you to everyone who helps and supports us on the way, especially Colin and Karen at Westwills Equestrian.”
